Terms of Service

Welcome to RidgeText. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of RidgeText's SMS-based AI assistant service ("Service"). By registering for or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. Service Description

RidgeText provides an AI assistant service accessible via SMS and other messaging platforms (including WhatsApp). Users can send questions to our service and receive AI-generated responses, including text and images delivered via MMS. The Service is designed to work in low-connectivity and off-grid environments where internet access may be limited or unavailable.

The Service uses advanced AI technology to interpret your questions and provide helpful responses. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated responses may not always be correct or complete. The Service should not be used for critical decisions without independent verification.

3. User Account

3.1 Registration

To use the Service, you must register for an account by providing your name, phone number, and other required information. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to immediately notify RidgeText of any unauthorized use of your account.

3.3 Account Termination

You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings. RidgeText may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in prohibited conduct.

4. Subscription Plans and Billing

4.1 Subscription Tiers

RidgeText offers multiple subscription tiers and pay-per-trip packs with different usage quotas and features. Each plan includes a set number of prompts per billing period.

4.2 Billing and Payments

Paid subscriptions are billed on a monthly or annual basis, depending on your selected plan. Payments are processed through our third-party payment processor (Stripe). You agree to pay all fees associated with your selected subscription tier.

4.3 Usage Limits and Account Actions

RidgeText reserves the right to pause or cancel any account at any time due to overuse, abuse, misuse, or any other violation of these Terms.

4.4 Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellations will take effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. Accounts terminated by RidgeText for violation of these Terms, including but not limited to abuse or misuse of the Service, are not eligible for a refund of any unused portion of a paid subscription period. Refund exceptions may be considered at RidgeText's sole discretion.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service to harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate others
• Transmit or request any content that is illegal, harmful, defamatory, or offensive, including content that targets or harasses specific individuals or uses the likeness of a real person without their consent
• Use the image generation feature to request sexually explicit content, content that depicts minors in a sexual or inappropriate manner, non-consensual intimate imagery, deepfakes or synthetic media that use the likeness of a real person without their consent, or any content that violates applicable law — regardless of how the request is framed or worded
• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent usage limits, daily image limits, rate limits, or other access controls
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
• Use the Service to distribute spam, malware, or other malicious content
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Use automated systems or scripts to access the Service in a manner that circumvents or exceeds intended usage

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 RidgeText Ownership

The Service, including all software, technology, and content, is owned by RidgeText and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your personal or business use in accordance with these Terms.

6.2 User Content

You retain ownership of the questions and content you submit to the Service. By using the Service, you grant RidgeText a license to process your queries to provide responses and to improve the Service. We anonymize and aggregate query data for service improvement purposes.

6.3 AI-Generated Content

AI-generated content, including images delivered via MMS, is produced on your behalf using third-party AI models. To the extent permitted by the underlying AI model providers, you retain ownership of the AI-generated outputs delivered to you through the Service. RidgeText does not claim ownership of AI-generated outputs.

You are solely responsible for the prompts you submit and for any use of AI-generated content you receive. RidgeText makes no warranty that AI-generated content is free from third-party intellectual property claims. AI model providers may generate similar or identical content for other users, and no exclusive rights to AI-generated outputs are guaranteed.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers including AI model providers, mapping services, weather and safety data providers, and telecommunications carriers. Your use of the Service may be subject to the applicable terms and policies of these providers. RidgeText is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services, and is not liable for any interruption or failure of third-party services that affects the Service.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

8.1 No Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. RIDGETEXT DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.

8.2 AI Accuracy and User Responsibility

AI-generated responses are based on machine learning models and may not always be accurate, complete, or up-to-date. You should not rely on AI responses for critical decisions involving health, safety, legal matters, or financial decisions without independent verification.

YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DECISIONS OR ACTIONS YOU TAKE BASED ON INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE SERVICE. RidgeText is not responsible for any consequences resulting from your use of or reliance on AI-generated responses.

8.3 Not Professional Advice

THE SERVICE DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL, LEGAL, FINANCIAL, OR OTHER PROFESSIONAL ADVICE. AI responses are for informational purposes only and should not be used as a substitute for consultation with qualified professionals. Always seek the advice of a physician, attorney, financial advisor, or other qualified professional for matters requiring professional expertise.

8.4 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RIDGETEXT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

10. Changes to Terms

RidgeText reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you via SMS or other available contact methods. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
