What does the Free tier include?
Free gives you weather forecasts, trail maps, directions, wildfire maps, and nearby place search — all via SMS. It's fully functional for core outdoor safety needs. Image generation, reminders, location tracking, and news feeds come with Explorer or Ranger, or you can unlock them on a free account by buying credits.
Are there usage limits?
Yes, unless you hold credits. Free accounts get 5 messages per month. Explorer gets 50 messages per month and up to 20 AI-generated images per day. Ranger gets 150 messages per month and up to 50 images per day. Enterprise accounts are unlimited. Credits lift both limits: while you have a balance, the daily image cap doesn't apply and a spent monthly quota won't stop you. There are no overage charges either way, and monthly limits reset on the 1st of each month (UTC).
What is the difference between Explorer and Ranger?
Explorer unlocks all the core paid features. Ranger adds frontier AI models for the best possible responses, Google Calendar integration, priority response, and first access to new features as they launch — ideal for frequent users who want the full experience.
Does RidgeText work without internet?
RidgeText works anywhere you have cell service or satellite texting (Garmin inReach, SPOT, etc.). No Wi-Fi or data required — just basic SMS capability.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime from your dashboard or by texting CANCEL to RidgeText. You'll keep access until the end of your current billing period.
Can I switch between plans?
Absolutely. Upgrade or downgrade anytime from your dashboard. Changes take effect immediately and your billing is prorated, so you only pay for the time you actually used on your old plan.
What are credits and how do they work?
Credits unlock everything, on any plan. While you have a balance, no feature is off limits because of your tier and no daily cap applies — if you can cover the cost of an action, you can do it. A free account with credits can generate images and set reminders; an Explorer account can keep generating past its daily image limit. Credits also cover you when a monthly quota runs out, so you're never cut off mid-trip. Text messages and image analysis cost 1 credit each; AI image generation costs 2. Buy once, no subscription, and credits never expire.
