How to Share Your Location:
- Google Maps Link: Share your location from Google Maps (Android)
- Apple Maps Link: Share your location from Apple Maps (iPhone)
- Plain Text: Type coordinates like "47.6062, -122.3321"
- GPS Photo: Send any photo with location enabled (Coming soon with RCS messaging - may not work with SMS/MMS)

Interactive Maps:
Trail maps show numbered trails (1, 2, 3, etc.) along with their names and distances. You can ask for more details about specific trails, get directions, or zoom out to see more trails in the area!
Find Nearby Places
Need to find the nearest campground, gas station, or restaurant? You can either send a photo with GPS location enabled, or just tell RidgeText your location.

Get Turn-by-Turn Directions
Get detailed driving, walking, or biking directions right to your phone via text. RidgeText needs to know your starting location - share a Google Maps/Apple Maps link or tell it where you are.
Option 1: Select from Nearby Places List
- Step 1: Share your location via Google Maps/Apple Maps link or photo with GPS enabled (coming soon with RCS messaging)
- Step 2: Ask for nearby places (e.g., "Find campgrounds near me")
- Step 3: RidgeText sends you a numbered list (1-5 results)
- Step 4: Reply with the number: "1" or "Directions to 2"
- Step 5: Get turn-by-turn directions from your location!
Option 2: Specify Your Location and Destination
- • "Directions from Seattle to Yellowstone National Park"
- • "Directions to Mount Rainier from Tacoma"
- • "Walking directions from my hotel to Pike Place Market"
- • "Bike route from Golden Gate Park to Fisherman's Wharf"
Location Requirement:
RidgeText needs your starting location to provide directions. Share a Google Maps or Apple Maps link, or tell RidgeText your starting point in your message (e.g., "from Seattle").
Analyze PDF Documents
Send RidgeText a PDF document via MMS or a direct link, and get AI-powered analysis of its contents. Perfect for understanding trail guides, gear manuals, park regulations, or any other document you might encounter on your adventure.
How to Send a PDF:
- Via MMS: Attach a PDF file to your message and send it to RidgeText.
- Via Link: Include a direct link to a PDF file in your message (e.g., \"Analyze this PDF: https://example.com/trailguide.pdf\").
Example Uses:
- Send a trail map PDF: "What's the elevation gain on the longest trail?"
- Send a first-aid manual PDF: "Summarize how to treat a sprained ankle."

How It Works:
RidgeText will download, analyze, and store your PDF temporarily (for 24 hours) to understand its content. You can then ask follow-up questions about the document in your conversation.

Send RidgeText a photo via MMS and get instant AI-powered analysis. Perfect for identifying plants, assessing trail conditions, or understanding what you.re seeing.

Generation vs. Retrieval:
RidgeText automatically chooses between generating a new image or finding a real one:
- • Real-world subjects: Images are retrieved from the internet
- • Creative/fictional requests: New images are generated with AI
- • Ambiguous? The AI makes the best guess based on context
Generate Images
Create custom images using AI. Perfect for visualizing concepts, planning trips, or just having fun! Use words like "create", "draw", "generate", or "make" to trigger image generation.

Note:
Image generation can take a few minutes. You'll get an acknowledgment message right away, and can keep asking other questions while you wait!
Edit Your Photos
Send a photo and ask RidgeText to enhance or modify it. Perfect for making your adventure photos more dramatic or adding creative touches!

How It Works:
Simply send a photo via MMS and describe what you want changed. RidgeText will use your photo as a reference and generate an edited version with your requested modifications!
Send Voice Messages
Don't feel like typing? Send a voice message instead! RidgeText can understand your spoken questions and respond just like you typed them. Perfect for when you're on the trail and can't type easily.
How to Send a Voice Message:
- iPhone: Tap the audio waveform button in Messages, record your question, and send
- Android: Tap the audio waveform button next to the chat input (not the microphone for typing), hold to record or tap to select recording mode, then send
- Works with WAV, MP3, AAC, and most common audio formats

- Record: "What's the weather going to be like tomorrow?"
- Record: "Find me a campground near Yellowstone"

How It Works:
RidgeText uses advanced AI to understand your voice message and respond naturally. You'll get a text response back, just like if you had typed your question. Audio files are stored temporarily (24 hours) for conversation context.
Google Calendar Integration
Connect your Google Calendar to RidgeText to get quick updates on your upcoming events, even when you're off-grid. Stay informed about your schedule without needing to open your calendar app.
How to Connect:
- To connect your calendar, visit your RidgeText dashboard and link your Google account.
- Once connected, you can ask for your events directly via text.

Privacy Note:
RidgeText only reads your upcoming event titles, dates, times, and locations from your Google Calendar. It does not modify your calendar or access any other personal information. Your privacy is important.
